Battery, Charging and Starting Systems

A common complaint that we hear from our customers is that, while a battery change from the dealership is relatively fast and effective, it can cost up to $300! Though an obvious necessity, we at Autobahn Automotive feel that certain repair procedures such as these can come at a lower cost. With the myriad electrical systems in many of today's BMWs, a failure in this area can leave one bewildered and without a working automobile. Do your dash or interior lights dim when starting the car or running the climate control? Does your engine turn over longer than normal when starting the car on cold mornings? Has your battery repeated died after multiple jumpstarts? These can all be caused by a failing battery or faulty battery charging system. Batteries in BMWs can benefit from yearly maintenance, and the electrical systems can experience corrosion in some areas over time. Autobahn Automotive is experienced in troubleshooting and repairing faulty areas of the charging and starting systems of many BMW models. A dead battery can rise out of nowhere and ruin your trip, whether that be a commute to work or a weekend away from the city. Most vehicle owners see their battery as a "set it and forget it" commodity item, when in fact most BMWs employ battery types that benefit from yearly maintenance, and often give warning signals when they're close to dying. Do your doors sound slow to unlock when disarming the car? Does your power feel sluggish to move if the engine is not turned on? Is there a faint odor of sulfur or rotten eggs in your trunk? These conditions can be signs of a weakened battery that may need refreshing, recharging, or replacement.

Autobahn Automotive is fully capable of determining the state of your batter, whether or not it will hold a charge, and recommending replacement or maintenance. The latter is a simple procedure for our factory-trained technicians, and the former can be performed for our customers at a fraction of the cost of a battery replacement from the dealer.
