Engine Repair

Many modern vehicles use variable valve timing to improve both the power and efficiency of their engines. BMW's implementation is called VANOS, and over time the interior seals in the VANOS unit can become hard and brittle. Does your BMW experience rough starts during the winter or in cooler months?

Do the RPMs of your BMW fluctuate until the engine has reached normal operating temperature, sometimes even dipping too low and stalling the vehicle? If so, your engine can experience modest gains in performance and power from replacement of the VANOS seals and is something that is recommended to be performed by a knowledgeable BMW specialist such as Autobahn Automotive. In a dealer environment, a new VANOS module is always recommended in lieu of repair of a few interior seals, increasing the cost of the repair more than tenfold. Autobahn Automotive is committed to providing a proper repair at a reasonable cost, instead of removing and replacing troubled parts with little insight as to the true nature of the underlying problem. With a VANOS resealing, a BMW owner will experience a slight increase in both power and torque while at the same time finding a modest increase in mpg.
